The Rotary Foundation Endowment Fund

WELCOME

Welcome and Thank You for learning more about The Rotary Foundation Endowment Fund.

As you may know, Rotary is a global network of 1.4 million neighbors, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.

You may ask yourself how you can be part of this “lasting change” across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.  Also, as a Rotarian, you are probably wondering how you can continue your commitment to support Rotary’s Promise and continue the humanitarian work through others.

More than 100 years ago, Rotarians took bold action to empower generations still to come and established The Rotary Foundation.  Today, gifts to the Rotary Foundation’s Endowment Fund will ensure that future Rotarians will have the resources they need to design and implement sustainable projects year after year.

BUILD YOUR ROTARY LEGACY

Make a gift to the Endowment Fund during your lifetime to see the value of your gift grow and the investment earnings improve communities. An outright gift gives you a glimpse of your legacy’s future impact and allows Rotary to recognize and celebrate your generosity with your family and Rotary friends.

SECURE YOUR VISION

Include a commitment to The Rotary Foundation in your will or estate plan and take comfort in knowing that your charitable goals will be fulfilled for many years to come.  Committing a fixed amount or a percentage of your assets in your estate plan can put your resources to use after you no longer need them.  Your family and friends will appreciate knowing that you have made a significant contribution to a better future.

Endowment Funds (Share) comes back to the district.  Perpetuity is a key feature of Endowment Funds.  It basically means that your legacy continues for another lifetime after you.  The amount sent back to the District ranges from 2% - 5%.  Usually, the principal is barely touched; the interest or dividends is used for District projects.  It is a gift that keeps on giving.

BE LEGENDARY

When you make an outright gift to the Endowment or a commitment to give in the future, you are joining a 100-year tradition that unites leaders from across continents, cultures, and industries in working for a common good.  The Rotary Foundation Trustees are pleased to share their gratitude and offer membership in special societies when your gift is received.

Arch Klumph Society membership is reserved for individuals or couples who provide $250,000 or more to The Rotary Foundation outright or through cumulative qualifying gifts.

Major Donor recognition is awarded to those who have given $10,000 or more outright.

Legacy Society membership is presented to individuals or couples who have substantiated a future gift of $1 million or more to the Endowment.

Bequest Society membership is provided to those who have committed $10,000 or more in financial support, usually through an estate plan or beneficiary designation.

My Rotary Moment
In March 2023, I joined a group of Rotarians in District 5280 in their annual Humanitarian Trip.  This year, it was Belize – small country on the north-eastern coast of Central America.  There were 15 projects, and with the help of several Rotary Clubs in Belize and District 5280, these projects were completed.  Providing a better place for children to learn and to play as well as to teach adults to be self-sustaining.

After 18 years of being a Rotarian, I never heard anyone ask me about my Rotary Moment.  I joined Rotary to help our community through work and fundraising.  This was my way to give back to people and the community, who have supported me and my career throughout the years.  However, when I heard other Rotarians tell their story, it came to me that there was more than just standard experience.  It was an event or a situation that would change my life and enhance my passion.

The day I discovered my “ah hah” Rotary Moment was at the Light of the Valley Bathroom Project.  Rotarians built a restroom for the students of Light of the Valley.  We also painted several buildings and a few classrooms.  Students were thrilled to have visitors and saw the upgrade to their school.  We were welcomed by students, teachers, parents, and officials with warm smiles and many hugs.  My Rotary Moment was when a little girl came up to me to say, “Thank You.” She was very thankful for the small gesture of love and compassion we brought to her, her classmates and school.  My heart was both happy and aching with joy for I know we made a difference to at least one child.  This act of kindness and hope were just a few that I experienced on this trip. As we departed the school, tears flowed with satisfaction and hope that one day, this child would grow up and pay it forward. This was the type of legacy I wanted to leave this world.  I wanted to make sure that the next group of Rotarians will have the financial resources to continue my legacy in my community and the world.

I hope you will consider supporting the Endowment Fund so we can achieve Rotary’s Promise through YOUR Legacy.
