Born in Nanking, China, the daughter of
a diplomat, Angi grew up in New Zealand, Taiwan, Hong
Kong, New Jersey and
Washington, D.C. She attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute where she
was the founding president of the university’s only women’s service
sorority Chi Delta Alpha. A charter member and two-term president of the
Chinese Historical Society of Southern California, Angi is a graduate of
USC with a teaching credential from California State University, Long
Beach. She retired last year after 33 years of service to the Los Angeles
Unified School District as an English, journalism, and ESL teacher, job
developer, and public relations professional.
After surviving cancer in 1989, Angi
founded her intercultural and feng shui consulting and training services,
to bridge cultures for better business between Asian and non-Asians. She
was named Outstanding L.A. Businesswoman by NAWBO, INC Magazine’s nominee
for Entrepreneur of the Year, and the recipient of the IRWIN Award for
Best Book Publicist of the Year. Angi has received numerous awards for her
contribution to multicultural education and community service in Los
Angeles Chinatown and Palos Verdes where she served four years on the
boards of the Palos Verdes Chamber of Commerce and the Torrance Medical
Center Foundation.
She is the author of 17 books,
including award-winner Target: The U.S. Asian Market and
best-selling Feng Shui Dos and Taboos and Feng Shui
Dos and Taboos for Love. Angi has appeared on OPRAH, Live Regis
and Kelly, CBS Sunday Morning, CNN Headline News, Discovery and Learning
Channels, TIME magazine, and over 300 print, broadcast and Internet
features.
A member of the Bequest Society and
2001-02 Club President of the Palos Verdes Sunset Rotary Club which won 22
District awards, Angi has been a Rotarian for 10 years with perfect
attendance and has served as Club Secretary, Club Service Chair, 4 years
as Public Relations Chair, earning Rotary International’s Public Relations
Award in 1998, and Club Representative to the 1994 Taipei and 2002
Barcelona RI conventions. At the District level, Angi has served on the
Public Relations Committee for three years, the 2008 RI Convention Host
Committee, Editor of PDG Vicki Radel’s newsletter, 2002-03 District
Conference Committee, PDG Rick Mendoza’s District appointee for Rotary
Image and Protocol Rotary Centennial Committee for DG John Colville, and a
member of the 2002-03 MODEL Program.
The parents of four adult children, Angi and
her husband Norman of 36 years, are both multiple Paul Harris Fellows, and
are residents of Palos Verdes
