IT WAS A HEADY DAY

The Rotary Club of Santa Monica held last Friday’s meeting with the musical styling of KAREN JACKSON and CAROL BAKER, or something like that!

That head table was peopled with some pretty amazing individuals, from JOHN McINTYRE on one end doing guestarians to the district governor JOHN COLVILLE praying for us, with YWCA Woman of the Year KRIS ANDRESEN  and Dr. PIEDAD ROBERTSON doing the introduction for one time Governor Hopeful and current Secretary of Education RICHARD RIORDAN it’s a good thing the PresiDEEnt was in charge.

The Secretary gave a brief overview of the state of the State on  Education and literacy, then worked his magic fielding questions from the floor.  It was good to see such a full turnout of our rotary numbers and their guests.

A DAY AT THE RACES

No, it’s not another Marx Brothers remake!

On Thursday, APRIL 15 (Isn’t that Tax day?  And don’t we lose enough money that day anyways? Oh well.) at 10:00 a.m. SHARP, a big blue bus is leaving from Par Farris’ Methodist Garage and taking a group of Rotarians to SANTA ANITA RACE TRACK  Where a behind the scenes paddock tour will enthrall Rotarians and their spouses (Don’t those spouses hear enough of our manure, do we really need to show them more?!) I’m lead to believe that there will be a table for us at the Frontrunner Restaurant all afternoon, and that there will be remedial class for how to give all your money to the track owners (otherwise known as betting!)  Cost is $75 make your reservations with June Doy or Bill Hunt. Made is Paid people, you make a reservation, you’re paying!

THAT OTHER INTERNATIONAL FOOD FAIR!

On April 18TH, we’ll be getting together at TOM LOO’S Malibu Manse to experience the cultural cuisine of our members heritage.  Plus you get to partake of the Silent Auction which is being headed up by that Dynamic Diamond Dealer, Oded Wolf so you know that he knows the quality goods to collect for an auction.  Please contact June Doy for Reservations. Guests are $25.00.  We are dark on the 16th so this counts as our meeting.

WARNING!!! THE COFFERS ARE LOW AND A NEW GAME FOR THE MONTH OF APRIL IS COMING!!!

The PresiDEEnt is starting a new game this coming month, fines will be based on your knowledge of the contents of the APRIL issue of the ROTARIAN.  You better read the whole thing cover to cover or your might be paying up big time.
