Susan Annett, Public Services Manager at the Santa Monica Public Library, speaks about exciting plans for “A Library for the 21st Century.”

 Abstract:

The contemporary public library is more than just a warehouse for books. Today’s library offers a variety of services, programs, resources and collections. It’s a place where kids can get homework assistance; families can attend a free concert; and reference service is now virtual, interactive and available “24/7.”

Susan Annett talks about current services and collections of the Santa Monica Public Library and offers an overview of the conceptual design for the new Main Library by the award-winning architectural firm, Moore Ruble Yudell.

  

Career/educational background:

Susan Annett, Principal Librarian for Public Services, is part of a five-member management team at the Santa Monica Public Library. She manages Circulation, Youth and Volunteer Services, programs, exhibits, outreach, and publicity for the Main Library. She has 25 years of experience in public and special libraries and is active in the Public Library Association. She holds a Masters in Library Science and Bachelor’s degree from The University of Iowa, Iowa City.
