Celebrate America 2002

Our club participated in "Celebrate America" held at Santa Monica College in June of this year. We were one of several service clubs honored for our commitment to the community.

This years  event was outstanding. We had Spiderman (who tied balloon animals),
a face painter, and Rotary balloons. Our booth had a line 15 people deep all evening.

We took advantage of the large number of kids and their parents to hand out hundreds of flyers on our  Shots for Tots project. We also talked about our other Rotary events and activities.

We also got the Santa Monica Rotaracters involved. We had three officers from the club to help out with the booth, blowing up balloons, handing out flyers in the crowd, and displaying cheerful smiling faces.

According to this years Chair Persons Susan Dawson and  Chris Lawson and those in attendance "the event was an overwhelming success".

A special thank you goes out to Susan and Chris and their committee Steve Litvack, Clyde Smith, Charlie Christensen, Shirley Dowling, Monika White, John Lehne, and Spyros Dellaportas for putting on such a fine event, and helping show the community all the good things that our Rotary Club does!
