Stan Fox, Director
COMMITTEE OBJECTIVES
Club Service
Committees of the Rotary Club of Santa Monica are excited about their
responsibility and are moving forward to ensure that we will have a welcoming,
energetic and smooth functioning club. A. ATTENDANCE/HOUSE Objectives: 1
To keep accurate and timely attendance records. 2
Be certain that the badge board is up-to-date with a space for each
member’s badge. 3
“Check-in” tables should be in place - one for visiting Rotarians and
guests, and one for our members. 4
Check on head table before each meeting for all needed items. Projects: 1
To set up a system to contact members who are absent two or more times
(and their sponsor) to let them know we miss them and would like them to attend. 2
Rearrange Badge Board so members can easily find their badge. B. BIRTHDAYS Objectives: 1
To enrich the sense of camaraderie felt by Rotarians by celebrating and
honoring members on their birthdays. 2
To add a festive spirit to our weekly meetings on these special
occasions. C. FELLOWSHIP Objectives: 1
To have at least two club members at the front door at every meeting
between 11:50 a.m. and 12:20 p.m. to welcome members, visiting Rotarians, and
guests in a warm upbeat manner, and to attempt to satisfy any special needs they
might have. 2
To coordinate with First Year Activities in encouraging new members to be
greeters, so that they may meet and become better acquainted with other members
of our club. 3
To work with Entertainment and First Year Activities to provide a variety
of activities for smaller, more intimate groups of Rotarians and their
significant others. D. GUEST INTRODUCTIONS Objectives: 1
To add interest to the weekly Club meetings by personalizing the
introductions of visiting Rotarians and guests. 2
To secure enough information from each visiting Rotarian and to pass that
along to those in attendance so that others will be stimulated to come up to the
visitors and converse with them after the meeting.
This can be of great benefit in bringing together Rotarians with similar
classifications and business interests. Projects: 1
The weekly introducer will spend some time with the visiting Rotarian(s)
in order to “personalize” the introduction and hopefully, to tie the
personalization into some type of theme. Procedures:
The Club’s Executive Secretary will be provided with a list of Guest
Introduction Committee members’ assignments, so that head table introductions
can be planned in advance by the Club President. E. MUSIC Objectives: 1
To promote a sense of harmony and well-being through vocal and
instrumental expression. Songs will be chosen or creatively written for their
relevance to the program when appropriate.
All efforts will be exercised to encourage spirited singing, song being a
common “bond” among all of us. F. SPIRITUAL EMPHASIS Objectives: 1
To enlist different club members each week to give invocations which
focus on the spiritual dimension of our lives including people of all religions. 2
Advise Executive Secretary by Tuesday of each week who will give the
invocation on Friday. G. SOUND SYSTEM Objectives: 1
To enhance weekly meetings by providing quality audio support for
speakers at the podium as well as participants in the audience. 2
To provide support for additional sound system needs such as prerecorded
messages or music and recording special programs and events. Projects: 1
Evaluate current system capabilities and investigate obtaining additional
equipment to support and improve weekly meetings. H. PHOTOGRAPHER Objectives: 1
To obtain and retain a pictorial record of weekly meetings and special
events. 2
To photograph weekly speakers with the Club President and/or Club member
who introduces our speaker. Projects: 1 Assemble an album of key photographs to present to the club President at the end of their term. |
