Last month Rotarians celebrated the sixth year of their key literacy program by visiting 44 classrooms in four Santa Monica schools. Books read to the classes were purchased through the Los Angeles Times 'Read By 9' Holiday Book Drive. Through the book drive, 7800 new books were purchased and donated by the Rotary Club of Santa Monica to the Santa Monica and Los Angeles School Districts. Rotary Readers this year included John Lehne, Ed Moosbruger, Barry Bouley, Tom Loo, Clyde Smith, Nancy Freedman, Joe Fitzsimmons, Pat Farris, Judy Neveau, Marv Levin, Erik Jorgensborg, Norma Barnes, Radomir Samardzic, Shirley Dowling, Bob Gabriel, Bashir Kadri, Bob Baker, Karim Jaude, Joyce Khoury, Klaus Mennekes, Monika White, Mike Nichols, Diane Margolin, Bill Fritzsche, Con Oyler, Bill Crookston, Carol Jackson, Vivian Rivas, Lorraine Jossel, Kathy Dodson, Myles Pritchard, Kris Andresen, Monty McCormick, John McIntire, Tim Shannon, Jon Kemp and Susan Dawson, who coordinated the program.
