New Web Site

Offers Guidance

On Mental Health

And the Elderly

Persons seeking guidance on mental health and counseling, elder care and healthy aging can now find help through a web site developed by the Rotary Club of Santa Monica and the Center for Healthy Aging.

The web site (www.Helpguide.org) provides information on a wide range of topics as well as lists of agencies in Santa Monica and the Westside of Los -Angeles that can help with particular problems.

Among the key features of Helpguide are an extensive topic index and a system, which allows users to delve ever deeper into a specific topic. It also includes links to related web sites.

Robert Segal, a Santa Monica real estate executive and Monika White, president and CEO of the Center, are co-chair of the Healthguide project. Both are members of the Rotary Club of Santa Monica which is the driving force behind the web site.

Helpguide, which was developed with major support from the California Community Foundation, covers the broad categories of Mental and Emotional Problems/Disorders, Alcohol, Drugs and Tobacco, Alzheimer’s/Dementia, Caring for the Elderly and Lifestyles for Healthy Aging.

The Rotary Committee that developed the Helpguide held more than 50 meetings and, along with friends, spent hundreds of hours scouring the Internet to develop a filtered list of web sites to link to it.
