HEADS UP
This week the Head Table was flanked by spirituality, KEITH MAGEE did the Visitors and Guests and PATRICIA FARRIS did the invocation. In the middle we had our ever popular Program Director DAVID RIMER and to his right was funnyman BOBBY KELTON, of The Tonight Show fame. Rounding out our fair table of honorables this week was the ever lovely JUDY NEVEAU and preparing to close his year, President BILL CROOKSTON.
Leading us in song and cheer this week, stepping out from his role as club wallflower was CLYDE SMITH, accompanied by the tickling fingers of CAROL JACKSON.
Tonight Show veteran BOBBY KELTON gave a humorous look at life in America. As he has appeared over 20 times on the Tonight Show, this journalist turned funnyman was a breath of humorous air to lighten the somberness of the club as we note the waning days of President Crookston’s time in office.
Kelton was a good natured humorist, who poked fun at the Rotary, golf, and himself, noting that he was the only player in little league to be traded to new family.
Good choice chairman Dave!!
FINES AND GRANTS
This week the fines were flying over children and grandchildren. Our resident Agent, ALONZO HILL is paying $10 per month for his bundle of joy, that’s a cool $100 for the FBI man on the street.
Grampa ROBERT KLEIN is paying $10 an inch for the latest limb of the Klein tree, and at 20 ½ inches that adds up to tall $205.
PAUL LEONI is paying for his in both inches and pounds. $10 each for his 10 pound 8 incher.
This week the Rotary Club of Santa Monica gave grants to the Center for the Partially sighted, supporting a screen reader program that allows the partially sighted to use computers and keep working.
The Santa Monica Westside YMCA received $2000 through the Children and Youth Committee.
