78, ISSUE 39 Tune in this Week for the June 2nd Program: AOur Northern Neighbors@ Our
featured speaker will be The
Right Honourable A. Kim Campbell Ms.
Campbell served as Canada’s 19th and first female Prime Minister. She has
had to maintain a reputation as a tough politician. But a talented
entertainer lurks behind the combative exterior. She has musical talent, and
in law school she wrote, produced, and performed in satire and skits
lampooning the legal and political establishment. Ms. Campbell is currently
Consul General of Canada in Los Angeles where she brings a Canadian perspective
on world issues. Her term expires in September 2000. JOIN US NEXT TIME: SAME TIME, SAME STATION June

morning, Americans! You know what the news is. Now you’re going to hear the REST
of
the story!!!
And now for what it’s worth... Head
tablers for the May 12, 2000, meeting were invocateur John McIntire,
program chair of the day Michael O’Hara, District Governor Jack
Jones, Assistant Governor Jerry Sturm, David Rimer, and guest introducer
George Collins. Governor Jones presented a district award to Shirley Dowling for dedication to furthering the cause of literacy. And Assistant Governor Sturm acknowledged Philip Tirone’s work in the district for membership. In
our own version of ATruth
and/or Consequences,@
President
Jack called on Dr. Rick Kennedy, to the tune of $200, to report on George
Ishizuka. Thanks for keeping us up to date. Bob Klein paid $150.
Then Jack thanked Spyros Dellaportas for providing the baklava for the
District Conference. Apparently, he took 2 of the German exchange students
with him. Question: Who understood whom in that car?? Monty McCormick
was recognized for going along for the ride with Spyros. As interpreter? Con
Oyler was identified in the line-up as the one who was on Barbara Hopper’s
bed on Friday evening at the conference. For that, Con paid no penaltyCunlike
the divorces he handles... Michael
O’Hara presented a $1500 check to the Wellness Community which will
purchase 232 books for their participants. And Dick Lawrence presented
a $350 check to K.I.C.K. for uniforms for the karate kids. Bob
Toledo of UCLA has coached Aon both sides of the street.@ He has worked at USC. Last
year was a year of distraction with the handicapped problem. With a
sophomore-junior team, he says the Abest
is yet to come.@
This year they will play 8 bowl teams and have 7 home games. It will be a good
year he says. Rex
Minter was acknowledged for his retirement two weeks earlier. Jack
wasn’t sure about fining a judge! Good

OUR OUTLOOK ON THE WORLD FOREVER That
Wednesday morning April 19, 1995, was like any other midweek day at the Alfred
P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City. At 9:03 p.m., a 2-ton homemade
bomb made of fertilizer and fuel oil exploded, and half of the building
disappeared as debris rained down upon neighboring blocks. The country was
shattered. News crews arrived almost instantaneously, broadcasting the carnage
and despair around the world. Clinton vowed to capture the Aevil

responsible. And Janet Reno guaranteed to seek the death penalty. Broadcasters
were speculating that foreign terrorists were responsible. But the arrest of
Timothy McVeigh shocked the nation. The terror had come from within. AHONORING OUR
